Samhain Rituals

Make Resolutions     Write out your resolutions on a small piece of paper or parchment. Light a black votive candle in a cauldron on the altar. Then carefully burn the paper with your resolutions in the flame. (Use caution not to burn yourself or start a fire.)

Honor Ancestors     Samhain is the time of year to ponder the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. For many Wiccans, honoring ancestors that have passed away during the year is a key component of their Samhain celebration. Drink apple cider spiced with cinnamon to honor the dead.

Hold a Seance     Many Wiccans believe that Samhain is the time of year when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest. They take advantage of this by trying to contact those who have passed away and entered into the spirit world.

Feast with the Dead     In many Wiccan traditions, Samhain is celebrated with a Feast with the Dead. During this solemn celebration, places are set for relatives and friends who have passed away during the past year. Wiccans use the celebration as a way to tell the spirits what they never had the opportunity to say while they were alive.
